Job: Experienced Conveyancer
North Yorkshire/North East
QED Legal are working with a long-established high-street practice who are looking to hire an experienced Conveyancer into its small but busy team. The firm and department have continued to work through the Covid19 pandemic and have seen instructions in residential property increase and are opening in excess of 30 new matters a week as a result of picking up and winning new work from local and regional estate agents and other referrers.
The role will be to join one of two offices situated in the North East or in North Yorkshire. The North East role requires an experienced conveyancer to handle the full remit of sale and purchase matters from start to finish.
The North Yorkshire position is similar but ideally requires the Conveyancer to have a track record of being able to manage a small office, have good experience of business development and some exposure to agricultural work.
The team consists currently of 3 fee earners – 2 Solicitors and a Legal Executive with 5 support staff who assist on the files.
The firm is not a conveyancing factory and although very busy operate very much in a traditional manner with the bulk of files coming in as a result of their reputation as well as some referrals from local sources. One of the Solicitors does do panel-based work too but this is supplementary to the natural work sources.
As a high street practice the firm has more of a friendly feel and people here have a good work/-life balance with most people, most of the time leaving the office between 5 and 5.30pm.
High Street firms are sometimes synonymous with older Partners at the helm, and an old fashioned way of working – it is not the case here with the average Partner age now around 40 years old, who are constantly looking to update the practice in terms of technology and ways to work.
There is a competitive salary based on the candidates experience with the North Yorkshire option paying slightly more based on the extra responsibility of the role.
